Our New Home

Our pool opened on Memorial Day weekend but it just seemed a little too cold to break it in at that time. However, when we went, boy did we break it in with a vengeance. On Monday, I took the boys to a playground that was not in our neighborhood but it did have a pool that they quickly realized was open and of course they wanted to swim. Instead, we had a picnic lunch. They realized that our pool was probably open too and with how hot it was on the playground, that sounded like fun so I told them after naps and dinner we would head to the pool in our neighborhood. We had a blast and ended the evening at the pool!

This morning the first place they wanted to go was THE POOL! I told them we would spend the day at the pool but not 5 minutes went by after getting those words out of my mouth that I got a call with an opening for their haircuts but it was going to have to be at lunchtime. Don't you just love when you tell your kids something exciting they are going to get to do and then moments later, you have to change up the plan but you have to figure out a way to make it right? Instead of spending half the day at the pool, I took them for a quick trip to the pool and then headed to get Grant and Peyton haircuts. Instead of their picnic pool lunch, they ate their packed lunches while the other one got a haircut. After their haircuts, they got an unexpected surprise that they loved-getting to ride my dad's tractor. If we had been at the pool all day, they would have missed out because I would have missed the call. Sometimes a change in plans can turn out better. I know God has shown me that A LOT so I'm learning to love flexibility and living in the moment and trying to teach our kids the same! Last year Peyton had so much fun riding the tractor with G-Pop but Grant didn't want to ride. Well, Grant has been talking about wanting to ride the tractor so since my dad was cutting their field today, I stopped by after their haircuts.

Then, I took them home because it was nap time. After naps, they had dinner and it was back for more pool fun. This time Daddy got to come with us for the first time. I think we will take a little break from the pool for a few days because Grant has enjoyed it so much that he has actually gotten those blisters on your toes that you get from the pool floor. He has had a blast playing with other kids and they run and chase each other in the pool and swim through the waterfalls but all that running has worn on his little toes. His toes were literally bleeding and he didn't feel a thing while playing. I'm sure it was a sight to behold as I carried our 4 year old out of the pool with blood literally dripping from his toes and he is crying, "Can we still come back tomorrow?" Peyton loves the pool too but I think his dedication to the pool falls a little short of swimming with painful blisters. After a little break, you will probably find us at the pool for most of the summer. :) Summer fun!!!

For the daily kids say the darnedest things, here you go....I couldn't help but laugh because I got a little sunburned on my back earlier today at the pool because I didn't have the heavy duty sunscreen on like the boys. I showed Grant my sunburn so he would know why I cover them in sunscreen and he immediately responded with, "I saw a man who had it too and he had to lay down and close his eyes because he felt so bad from it." He then asked me if I saw him too. I knew exactly who he was talking about but as you have probably inferred, this man was laying out in the sun not closing his eyes because he felt so bad from it. :)

Here are some pictures of our fun.... (Landon mostly hung out in the shade under the umbrella but watching him take in all the excitement was just as entertaining. The water was a little too cold for him but he did dip his little toes in it but he didn't think much of that. I'll post pictures of him when he makes his big official pool debut.)
