More School Highlights

Here are some pictures from the 2nd half of our school year. I still have a lot more to post b/c we had several field trips from our community unit and there are still the T-Z activities. I'll get around to it one of these days. :)

O Activities

Art gallery...ocean prints on our capital and lower case O

Working on Oscar the Otter puppet

Ollie the Octagon

Making Our Site Word Worm
Each time a new site word was introduced, it is added to this worm. We eventually had to put a couple pieces of poster board together to make this long worm.

Site Word Memory Game

P Activities:
Pig Snout P's for our Art Gallery
They wore a pig snout created out of a toilet paper roll and dipped their noses in brown paint (mud) and put their snouts on their P's

Creating patterns and pictoral graphs

Picnic

Pirate for a day
During our reading and letter time, we read pirate stories and colored wooden pirate ships and pirates that I got in the $1 Michael's bin. Here, Peyton is playing a letter game on his Mickey laptop.

Pancakes

Dissecting a cone to find the seeds inside during our plant unit.

*They were also palentologist during our "P" week. They love dinosaurs so I gave them a little dinosaur booklet to work on during the week where we learned about a new dinosaur each day. Then, when we went outside they acted like they were trying to find dinosaur bones. They would take sticks and try to create fossils.

Q Activities:
Art gallery...Quilt Q's

Our Story Quilt:
Each day that we read a story, they drew a picture. One day, they drew their favorite character from a story. Then, the next day they drew their favorite setting. Another day was their favorite part of the book. They put these quilt pieces together to make one big quilt.

R Activities:
Art gallery was rainbow R's

Computer time at the library

Landon working on his social skills. :)

Rock Star time
During our "R" week they got to create a song and sing it on stage. Their hair was also true rock star style.

Grant introducing Peyton to the stage for his solo. Here Peyton is making his way to the stage.

During our "R" week they made pet rocks and dictated a story to me about their pets.

Landon finger painted while they painted their rocks.

S Activities:
For Dr. Seuss' birthday, we made Green Eggs and Ham

Growing a sensitive plant during our plant unit for our "S" week

S art gallery work was Stringy S's

Sand painting

Stepping Stones

Sponge Painting with Shapes
We read a book called Icky Bug Shapes and it talked about all the shapes we find in nature. We went outside to look for our own shapes in nature. Then, we came inside to make pictures using sponge painting. I cut shapes out of sponges and they created pictures out of those shapes.

Landon playing with his car while the older boys sponge paint.

Superhero day! During our "S" week, the boys got to dress up in a superhero costume (which isn't unusual from other days because they dress up in their costumes often) but this day we wrote stories about superheros and talked about the traits that make up a superhero. Easy way to integrate superheroes from the Bible too.

Stringing green beans

Grant doing some seat work while I work with Peyton on his phonics.
