Around The Town

For us, whether we are at home or away, school continues so this time instead of packing everything up when we had to be away from home, I decided to plan some field trips since it fell during our community unit. We had so much fun going around the town. Here are some of our pictures...

Story & Craft Time at the Library

A Visit to the Doctor: Landon's Allergy Skin Testing

The Police Station

Looking inside the holding cell. They were disgusted with how gross it was. The inmate didn't do a good job of cleaning his cell.

The Fire Station

Peyton is excited to get gloves!

They even got to see where the firemen sleep.

The Post Office
I'm sure the postal worker thought I was a bit OCD making my child wear gloves or either he was a bit OCD. :) Peyton was so excited with his gloves from the fire station he wanted to wear them all day.

The Bank

The Dentist

Stevie B's

They each got their own dough

Looking inside the giant freezer

Peyton loves the dough because it is "squishy"

Grant had a question. He is very animated when he is trying to understand something.

Making the pizza together

Peyton spreading the sauce. They each had a role and the manager described how Stevie B's focuses on teamwork and everyone has a job to contribute to the team.

The movie theater (I've already posted pics from this trip) also fell during this unit so after visitng everywhere, the boys had to make a community map.

During the unit, we also focused on the differences b/w rules and laws and they helped created some home rules that they felt would make for a happier and more orderly home. Also part of the unit was learning the differences b/w goods and services so the boys had an opportunity to create their own store and sell goods and later, they sold a service. Grant was a builder and Peyton was a doctor.

Here are pictures from their toy store that they each created for the other to shop in. They also did their own pricing and had to figure out how much they could buy with the money they had.

A picture just for fun...All Boys!!! Our 3 boys with their cousin.

  2. LOL! That is my brother's son. My mom kept him one day a week while my sister-in-law worked and that morning she had an appt. so I was keeping him since we were up that day. They all play so well together so it was a lot of fun!
