The boys painted what Good Friday meant to them on canvas after we read the Easter story on Good Friday.
Very insightful listening to Grant and Peyton talk to each other about the Easter story. Peyton is taking a peak at what Grant was telling him about his painting.
One of Grant's paintings. He was so excited to tell me all about the angels in the sky, the black clouds and all the other elements to his painting.
Then, on Saturday we met up with my parents for my birthday celebration. That night we went to our old church for their Easter service. It was so wonderful being back. Here are some pictures of the boys after the Easter service.
Best friends! They consider each other their best friends.
Making our traditional Easter cookies. The ingredients and the steps you take to make the cookies tell the Easter story. For example, they beat the pecans and crushed it and that represented Jesus being beat. The final step leaves you with a rocky tomb cookie and you put it in the oven and seal the oven door representing the tomb being sealed.
The next morning you open the tomb (oven door) and find that when you bite into the cookie, it is empty just like the empty tomb. Peyton said, "He said he wouldn't be there and he wasn't lying."
Waiting to come downstairs to see what the Easter bunny left in their baskets.
Peyton's reaction when he discovered the Easter bunny left him balloons that make animals. He ran out of his other pack and for at least a month, he has been praying that God would send him balloons. Who knew God uses the Easter bunny to answer some kids' prayers? :)
Easter at my parents church. The boys love their children's program. They have so much fun and learn a lot too! The children's area is a circus theme and here they are with Ringo, their mascot.
Easter pictures
My dad dressed up in a bunny costume for the egg hunt they had for the boys. Quite impressive considering he had just passed out and hit his head a few days before and landed himself in the hospital. So funny seeing bunny ears poking out from a tree as we go out for the egg hunt. The boys got so excited when they realized a bunny came to their egg hunt. They never knew it was my dad!
In this picture, it really is worth a 1000 words. Right before we got this picture, my dad waved good-bye to the boys and started hopping off. That in and of itself was funny. The funny part was my mom calling after the Easter bunny, "Wait a minute Easter bunny. We need to get a picture." He kept waving and hopping off. As you know those costumes are super hot and he was getting dizzy so the bunny had to go get water. Then, he came back and we got this picture.
Telling the Easter bunny good-bye one last time.
Time to see the prizes. Peyton loves anything "squishy" so he is thrilled to have a squishy yo-yo because he loves yo-yos too so it is the best of both worlds.
Grant and his pirate shirt.
Peyton was so excited to get a shirt like Landon got a few weeks back. He had been asking if he could have one like Landon.
Grant was hoping he would get the Buzz Lightyear legos from the Easter bunny so he was so surprised to get them as one of his prizes from the egg hunt. He couldn't wait to put it together today!

I love the pictures. G-Pop was a really good sport to play Peter Cotton Tail hopping down the bunny trail. Great visual of him hopping away. I would loved to have seen that.
ReplyDeleteThe boys are so precious and we're looking forward to seeing them this weekend.
Love to all....Nana Carol
