NOTE: I wrote this update after my sister's wedding on September 19th but I am just now getting around to posting it and I still haven't had a chance to edit it but I needed to update you as this is all becoming old news. These days we don't know whether we are coming or going because we are very much in the trenches of all the work with this church plant and for we are spending our weekends in McDonough and Vince is spending some days during the week there so there hasn't been much time to update the blog but there is A LOT going on so I'll do my best to keep you posted with all that is happening.
We had a busy weekend with my sister's wedding and then just when we thought we could relax on Sunday, we get a call as we were about to take a nap to say that an agent wants to show our house so we gathered everyone to get out so they could see the house. That brings me to our first big prayer request. Please pray that this house sells quickly. We had 3 different people look at our house last week. One is in the beginning stages of looking and she said that our house is one that she is seriously considering.
Here is our situation, we have marked down our house as low as we can when you consider commission and other closing fees and we can't mark it down more without looking at doing a short sale which still falls under the umbrella of foreclosure. We have accepted the fact that everything we saved from our married life went into a down payment on this house and that is all gone so we are basically starting from scratch. The harder pill to swallow is if we do indeed get foreclosed on our credit will be tanked and we have always had excellent credit. Even when we will be eligible for a loan, we will have higher interest rates so while we are sick that we have lost everything we put into this house, we are even sicker to think our credit will be shot too. We know God is in control but I still have a hard time understanding why our old house would sell so quickly and then we had an offer that we put on another house fall through which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because we got this house which was much more spacious but fell right in our price range after a big markdown from the builder. I don't understand why all of those details would fall into place only for us to be foreclosed on but I know that God works everything out for our good and according to His will in our lives so I'm having to trust that whether the house sells or not, He will take care of us. We would really appreciate you praying for the right person to come along that can buy this house for what we are asking because it is a great deal when you don't compare it to foreclosures but that is what we are competing against...amazing deals on A LOT of foreclosed homes.
Now, on to happier updates and news....Vince has accepted the position at the church plant in McDonough. Currently, he is working on raising support and he will probably go stay there once a week to do work that requires him to be in the community to complete the work and do the rest of the work from here. We have continued to pray that a full or part-time job would open to supplement what Vince will raise. We talked with a good friend at my sister's wedding on Saturday and it looks like he may have a full-time position for Vince which would take care of some of the support Vince would need to raise in addition to providing us with health insurance after 90 days.
In addition to praying for our house to sell, please pray for all the transition that will take place over the coming months, that the level of support we need to raise will come in for the church plant, and for the Lord's will in this potential full-time job for Vince. As I've said before, being on staff of a church plant is very hard work and long hours as you get everything off the ground. It is very standard in the beginning of being on a church plant staff, to have to raise your own support and get your own health insurance, but if this full-time paid job pans out the way it looks like it will, then that will take care of the health insurance and part of the level of support we will have to raise. It will be a good job where Vince can use his gifts but the pay is not nearly enough for a single-income family to live off so it will still be necessary to also raise support for the church plant in order for us to help make all the ends meet. On the flip side, it will be a full-time job on top of the work he will do with the church plant so that will be very physically demanding. We know God will allow all the pieces to fall into place at the right time but we would really appreciate you praying over these details.
