The boys glued various kinds of nuts on the Nn for our alphabet gallery.
Gathering pine straw for their nests.
We took coffee filters and glued the pine straw inside.
Then, they cut out ovals and wrote numbers on each egg and glued them inside. Grant even drew a bird to put in his nest and finished it off with flowers.
Nutty Numbers
We made peanut butter number cookies. The boys had to create the number I called out using our number cookie cutters. I used this to review the numbers we have learned and to reinforce the ones they have a harder time identifying.
Negative Art
The boys gathered objects from the house and outside and we laid them on photo paper and put them in the sun to make a negative. The same could be done with black construction paper.
We also made noodle necklaces and neckties that they decorated.
Phonics Games:
Alphabet and Site Word Bingo
For alphabet bingo, I would call out a letter and Peyton had to mark the uppercase and lowercase letter on his game board. There was a board for uppercase and lowercase.
For site word bingo, Grant had to call out the site word from a stack of index cards and then mark it on his card. I played along with them. The winner got to eat their M&M markers.

We have started a unit on our community and the boys are learning about community workers and who and what make up a community. We are enjoying taking some field trips during this unit as we create a book and map about our community. Here is our field trip to learn about the local movie theater and the behind the scenes tour. The boys really enjoyed learning how movies are made and shown.
This was probably the best field trip in their mind because the theater allowed us to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Squeakquel for FREE after the tour. Even Landon was excited about this field trip. :)
