Summer Fun

As you can tell, I'm WAY behind on the updating as I've just been able to post about the big celebration we had with Grant over his BIG decision on April 29th. There are a lot of reasons but our computer was been down for a little while where I haven't been able to get online and we have also had a busy but very fun summer which has not given me much time for updating.

I'll start by updating you on the job search front. There are a lot of irons in the fire with the emphasis mainly being on broadcasting jobs and some ministry openings. We are very eager to see which way God chooses to move because there are some possibilities but each possibility would definitely take us down very different paths and locations so we are excited to see what God will do and the doors He will open. While there has definitely been some very tough days, God has shown His strength like never before and given me a peace in the midst of this time to where I am able to enjoy each day for what it may bring. Of course, some days are easier to enjoy than others but I have found that you can't put off living life to the fullest because of circumstances. I have to choose joy and make the most of each day and live it as if it were my last. Having this perspective, helps me know that everything is short-lived no matter how long the trial may seem to last in the midst of it. I thought I would try to post some pictures showing a little of the fun we have been up to. What is even better is that most of these outings or events have either been free or less than $10.

1. Pool

Landon loves the pool just as much as his brothers and they really enjoy taking him around the pool in his float.

2. The summer started off with Grant getting to attend VBS at two churches. Peyton wasn't old enough to be able to attend but he enjoyed the kick-off activities which were for the whole family. This VBS had the Night at the Museum theme (the kids were led through different Bible stories at the museum) so here one of the characters is letting him pretend to ride a horse.

I had the big talk with them that they had to stay right with me because there were a lot of people there so they decided to hold hands while standing in line for the inflatables so they wouldn't get separated. A sweet moment. :)

Grant meeting one of the Roman soldiers while you can't quite see in this picture the cowboy Peyton is meeting.

A fun time of inflatables, cotton candy, snow cones, face painting, and meeting characters from the museum. Time to head home and Landon kicks up his feet on the ride back to the car.

The 2nd VBS had an Australian theme so on the first day we arrived a little early so the boys could pet some of the animals.

Peyton likes the baby crocodile but only in the tank.

The albino kangaroo

3. Bowling
You can go to www.kidsbowlfree.com and sign your kids up and it gives each kid two free games to bowl each day of the week. You only have to rent their shoes and for my two kids this comes out to under $10.

4. Free movies at Regal Cinemas.
Every Tuesday and Wednesday Regal offers a free G and PG movie at 10:00. You have to arrive 30-45 min. early but it is free. You can go to the regal website to see the movies offered each week.

5. Story Time
Our neighborhood has a story time two times a month where they do a craft related to the story followed by play time. We have also been to our local libraries where they do the same thing.

6. A date with my boys
I like to try to find time where I can take each boy on a little "date" to do something fun, just the two of us. It isn't anything elaborate, just a chance to get out of the house to have some quality time together. On this day, we went on a group date to a Japanese steakhouse right up the road from us and the boys and I can all eat at the hibachi grill for under $10. They are not big fans of the chef lighting up the grill with fire but they love watching his tricks and him cook the food in front of us. You just can't beat it for the price!

Peyton is the master at using chop sticks. It is so cute seeing him dip his food in the sauces and eating everything on his plate with chop sticks.

7. Tellus Museum
I met up with a group and we had a playdate at the Tellus Museum. It is a very neat and interactive museum!

Boys panning for gems just like you would for gold.

Boys getting practice at being paleontologist as they dig for dinosaur bones.

After a lot of work, Grant finally uncovered this large dinosaur fossil.

8. Landon enjoying some time at home in his tunnel. He is changing so quick. He is not only crawling but now standing. He has such a sweet personality. He is happy wherever he is.

9. Children's Museum in Chattanooga, TN
We went to visit Vince's brother and his family. They have a membership to the children's museum in Chattanooga so they treated us to trip there. We had a blast!

Nothing like a little 'ol snake handling.

Peyton on stage with his cousin, Natalie.

The kids on stage...Peyton was off-stage working on changing the stage lighting.

Grant is a big fan of Curious George which happens to be the exhibit at the museum right now.

Peyton likes Curious George too.

Peyton finds it even more fun when Natalie pushes him like he is in a swing.

10. Water Balloon Fights
The boys love having water gun and water balloon fights in our backyard.

Hard to believe that we are at the end of July but we are trying to savor this time and there is plenty more fun to come!
