Heavy Heart For the Boatner Family

We are in a Bible study at church with a couple, Randy and Kristin Boatner. I just met them for the first time a week ago Sunday. I received this prayer request through the church e-blast " Please pray for the Boatner family, who waited a long time before having their first child. Seven weeks ago God blessed them with a little girl, Regan Boatner. Last week the doctors determined that Regan has cancer in her brain and that the treatment for brain cancer might be more then Regan's little body can handle. The doctor's are consulting with other specialists to see what can be done for her." At the time, I had no idea that it was this same couple in our Bible study because I didn't know their last name and they didn't make any mention of this situation in our class. When I saw that prayer request, my heart just broke and I immediately began praying for this family.
The next day I found out that this prayer request was for one of the couples in our class. One would have never known by talking with them that they had such a heavy burden on their hearts. When we met, they knew she had a tumor but they didn't know it was as bad as it was until the following day but they said they didn't want to share such a heavy request with a new group. They have a site set up that keeps everyone updated and it is amazing to see their strength and courage in the midst of such an extremely difficult time in their lives!

Please check it out at caringbridge.org/visit/regan2009 You will probably have to enter your email address and create a password for yourself and then you can access it. There is also a place on the site where you can check a box (under "my profile" you can check "receive journal updates") and it will notify you when Kristin has made a new post. If you have trouble getting to this site, please let me know so that I can find a way for you to see it if you are interested. They definitely need our prayers and they find great encouragement from notes left in their guestbook because she has said on different occasions that they read them all and it really helps them! If you feel so led, please pass this request on to others because I know they have people praying for them that they have never met and this also provides them comfort!

I tell you it goes to show that you never know what people around you are dealing with and as Christians, it is important to have a discerning spirit and sensitive heart to the needs of those around us so that we can reach out and show Christ's love ALL the time. We never know exactly how our kind word or deed may impact another person and we may be God's instrument to bring others encouragement and strength when they may be suffering with something silently. Every day we have on this Earth is a gift and we need to always be looking for ways to share the gift and bless others because there are so MANY people fighting battles that we may never know and on this Earth we are to be the hands and feet of Christ to them!
